Saying "Hello" in Indonesian

Hello! ➔ Halo!

Welcome ➔ Selamat datang


Good morning ➔ Selamat pagi (7am - 11am)

Good midday ➔ Selamat siang (11am - 3pm)

Good afternoon ➔ Selamat sore (3pm - 7pm)

Good evening ➔ Selamat malam (after dark)


Saying "Good Bye" in Indonesian

Good bye ➔ Selamat jalan (to one leaving)

Good bye ➔ Selamat tinggal (to one staying)


Excuse me ➔ Permisi (when leaving a conversation)

*Salamat comes from the Arabic for "may your time/action be blessed".
