Favorite Japanese anime?

On the same note as the Japanese drama thread, I thought I'd ask what Japanese anime series you are all into. Got any favorites?

Let me start - Naruto and Bleach - Sure they are the standard anime series that most everyone has seen, and they've got a lot of filler episodes, but call me crazy... I still enjoy them. I've been meaning to watch Death Note sometime because it looks very good. Have any of you watched it? Did you like it? Come to think of it, I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Death Note, so it's probably a good choice to watch next from my list.

Kind of on topic here... I haven't read the Naruto manga or the Bleach manga yet. Are they as good as the anime? Or maybe even better than the animated versions? Do they follow pretty closely, or are they very different?

Sorry, I haven't read either of those mangas, so I can't really answer those questions.

As for my anime likes: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge!! I'm rewatching it again right now and enjoying it all over again. I tend to like the sappier animes, like Marmalade Boy, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Scrapped Princess, Peach Girl, Ouran High School Host Club...

Just thought I'd put my two cents in here.

My ultimate favorite has got to be Fruits Basket. I love it, my sister loves it, her boyfriend now (I don't think I can say loves it!) but he's at least interested enough to have asked to borrow the second disk of it. Woohoo! Another fan

I also liked Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo (anime movie), Gravitation, DN Angel, Ouran High School Host Club, Loveless... the list goes on. Also, I've got to admit that I too liked Marmalade Boy. It was rather good and unexpected, since it's such an old anime (1994-1995!) with old graphics. I usually like the pretty looking anime series', but I'll make an exception for this one

Oh, and bakabakashi, about Death Note, I'm not sure if you've watched it now, since it's been a while since you posted that message - but I haven't watched the anime yet, but I did just watch the three live action movies and enjoyed them quite a bit. The anime version is also on my list of things to watch

And about the manga, I also haven't read those manga, so I can't comment on those either.

I did start on Death Note and it's been pretty good so far! Have to finish watching it. Like I posted in the other thread though, I'm so far behind in my anime it's not even funny. I haven't had much time to devote to it, so hopefully soon I'll finish up the Death Note series, and then move on to more shows. I'm sure there's some that have come out in the past half a year that would interest me, but I just haven't taken the time to figure out what's been recently released.

Maybe I'll start reading the Naruto manga and see if it's any different from the anime since you all are unsure about it. I love reading manga that differs from the shows, because it feels like watching extra episodes that were never aired But again, that'll have to wait until I get around to it lol... you know how it is I'm sure.
